Institute of Neuroscience
The Institute of Neuroscience of Kazan State Medical University was established in 2017 in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council of KSMU.
The purpose of the Institute is to organize and conduct interdisciplinary research in the field of neuroscience and related specialties.
The key objectives of the Institute are:
- Development of interuniversity, interregional and international cooperation through the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects with leading domestic and foreign scientists in the field of neuroscience.
- Conducting interdisciplinary fundamental and applied research in the field of neuroscience of related specialties.
- Scientific and pedagogical activity: assistance to the Kazan State Medical University in the training of qualified scientific personnel, participation in the implementation of educational programs of postgraduate studies, residency.
- Attraction and consolidation of talented youth in the Kazan State Medical University.
- Creation of a modern technological infrastructure for conducting scientific research at the global level.
- Creating conditions for attracting extra-budgetary funding for the implementation of research projects through grants, international, federal and regional programs, etc.
- Participation in the organization and holding of scientific conferences, symposiums, seminars.

The Institute of Neuroscience consists of 3 laboratories:
1) Synaptology Laboratory (Head - Professor Pyotr Brezhestovsky)
2) Neurodegeneration Mechanisms Laboratory (Head - Professor Marat Mukhamedyarov)
3) Lipid-dependent regulation Laboratory (Head - Associate Professor Alexey Petrov)
