On October 5, 2023, Deputy Director for Educational Projects of the International Department of Shandong University (People's Republic of China) Ge Yumei visited Kazan State Medical University.

Ge Yumei had a meeting with Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Students Elena Koshpaeva, Head of the Office of International Affairs Tatiana Korobovtseva, Senior Officer of the Office of International Affairs Dina Valeeva. The participants of the meeting discussed the possibilities of cooperation between Kazan State Medical University and Shandong University, as well as issues related to attracting Chinese students to KSMU.

During the visit Gae Yumei also visited the Museum of History and the Simulation Center of KSMU.

From September 19 to December 19, 2023, Kazan State Medical University will host online lectures on abdominal surgery by the chief physician of the Department of General and Visceral Surgery of the Asklepios Nord-Heidberg Medical Center, Honorary Professor of Kazan State Medical University, Dr. Asad Kutup (Germany). Lecture topics:

1. Complications in surgery.

2. Fundamentals of surgery - abdominal hernia.

3. Fundamentals of surgery – proctology.

4. Chronic and acute intestinal diseases.

5. Colon cancer.

6. Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).

7. Surgical therapy of esophageal and cardial cancer. When and how to operate?

8. Multidisciplinary management of esophageal and stomach cancer.

9. Complications and management after resection of the esophagus and stomach.

10. Extended resection for pancreatic cancer.

11. Limits of pancreatic resection.

12. Pancreatic cystadenoma.

13. Treatment of pancreatic injury.

Participants who successfully complete the educational course will receive certificates. Two of the best participants of the course will have the opportunity to undergo an internship at the Asklepios Nord –Heidberg Medical Center under the guidance of Dr. Kutup.

On September 29, 2023, 2nd meeting of the consortium board for the implementation of the project “Design and implementation of an integrated educational program” was held online. The meeting discussed the organization of academic mobility of students and academic staff in the 2023-2024 academic year, advanced training programs for representatives of universities – consortium participants, the development of a joint integrated educational program, as well as promising areas of research in medical education.

Presentations were made by Laysan Mukharyamova, First Vice-Rector of Kazan State Medical University, Kuatbek Toleubekov, Vice-Rector for Academic Issues of Karaganda Medical University, Elena Polyakova, Dean of the School of Medicine of Karaganda Medical University, Maria Nigmetzyanova, Associate Professor of the Histology Department of Kazan State Medical University, Sergey Bulatov, Head of the Department of Simulation Teaching Methods in Medicine of Kazan State Medical University, etc.

Elena Polyakova, Dean of the School of Medicine of Karaganda Medical University and Maria Nigmetzyanova, Associate Professor of the Histology Department of Kazan State Medical University presented the results of a two-week internship of six teachers of Kazan State Medical University at the Karaganda Medical University in September 2023.

Recall that the international consortium for the implementation of the project “Design and implementation of an integrated educational program” includes two Russian universities: Kazan State Medical University and North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov, as well as two universities from Kazakhstan: Karaganda Medical University, Semey Medical University.

On September 29, 2023, the delegation of Wan Fang company (China) consisting of Director for Education Ma Sanxia, Deputy Directors for Education Han Jintao and Zheng Xin, representatives of the company's branch in Kazan Zhang Dali and Zhang Daolu visited Kazan State Medical University.

The members of the delegation had a meeting with Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Students Elena Koshpaeva and Interim Head of the Office of International Affairs Dina Valeeva. The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in attracting Chinese students to KSMU, as well as the possibility of implementing joint educational programs with Chinese universities.

Director of the Museum of History of KSMU Regina Ivanova conducted a tour of the Museum for foreign guests, introduced the history of the university to them.

During the visit members of the delegation also visited the Simulation Center of KSMU. The chief of the center, Yuri Orlov, conducted an introductory tour for the guests, told about the training simulation equipment and the activities of the center.

On September 18 – October 1, 2023, the project team of Kazan State Medical University is visiting Medical University of Karaganda (Kazakhstan) with the support of the Tatarstan Government grant "Algarysh". The project team includes:

- Nigmetzyanova Maria Vladimirovna, Associate Professor of the Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology

- Safiullov Zufar Zufarovich, Associate Professor of the Department of Normal Anatomy

- Fadeev Philip Olegovich, Assistant of the Department of Hospital Therapy

The purpose of this internship is to exchange knowledge and experience with Kazakh colleagues in the development of innovative educational projects aimed at improving medical education. During their stay, the project team will visit the Departments of Anatomy, Histology, Physiology and Hospital Therapy of Medical University of Karaganda, discuss joint research projects and the concept of an integrated program.

This internship was organized as part of the Agreement to establish of an international consortium for the implementation of the project "Design and implementation of an integrated educational program" between Kazan State Medical University, Medical University of Karaganda (Kazakhstan), North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov (Russia) and Semey Medical University (Kazakhstan).
