Rector

Alexey Sozinov is a rector of Kazan State Medical University since 2008. He is also Member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, Member of the Public Council of the territorial body of the State Drug Control of the Republic of Tatarstan, Member of the Coordinating Council of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being in the Republic of Tatarstan for conducting social and hygienic monitoring, Member of the organizing Committee for the 2015 year of the fight against cardiovascular Diseases in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Alexey Sozinov was born on December 31, 1963 in Kazan. In 1981 he graduated with a gold medal from school No. 1 in Chistopol. In the same year he entered the medical faculty of the Kazan State Medical Institute named after S.V.Kurashov and graduated with honors in 1987. As a student, he was a Lenin scholarship recipient, took an active part in the social life of the Institute, led the movement of student construction teams, and in 1986 was awarded the medal "For Labor Distinction".

In 1987, after graduating from the Institute, he studied in clinical residency, then in postgraduate studies at the Department of Infectious Diseases of Kazan State Medical Institute.

In 1992, he defended his PhD thesis at the St. Petersburg State Sanitary and Hygienic Institute.

In 1992-2003 he worked as an assistant, associate professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of Kazan State Medical Institute.

In 1993 - 1996 he was a director of the branch of Kazan State Medical University in Naberezhnye Chelny.

In 1996 - 2009 he worked as a vice-rector for academic Affairs of Kazan State Medical University.

In 2003, he was elected head of the Department of Biomedetics and Medical Law with a course in the history of medicine.

In 2004, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the I.I. Mechnikov St. Petersburg State Academy.

A.S. Sozinov has given lectures and reports in many countries, he has published more than two hundred scientific papers and teaching aids, 3 PhD theses have been defended under his leadership.

In 2007, A.S.Sozinov was elected Chairman of the Forum of Ethical Committees of the CIS countries, joined the WHO Steering Committee for the SIDCER program. In 2008, he became a member of the Russian Bioethics Committee under the Government Commission of Russian Federation.

On December 26, 2008, Alexey Stanislavovich was elected rector by the staff of Kazan State Medical University, and on April 30, 2009, by order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, he was confirmed as rector of Kazan State Medical University.

From 2009 to 2014, he was a deputy of the Kazan City Duma, a member of the Presidium of the Kazan City Duma, headed the permanent commission for the protection of citizens' health and the environment,

The activity of A.S.Sozinov has received public recognition, he is the deputy chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the Republic of Tatarstan, the editor-in-chief of the Kazan Medical Journal, a member of the editorial boards of the journals Bioethics, Medical Law, Bulletin of Modern Clinical Medicine.

In 2012, A.S.Sozinov became a laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of science and technology for his work "Improving diagnostics and organization of care for patients with sarcoidosis in the Republic of Tatarstan", was awarded the medal of the Russian Scientific Society of Pharmacologists named after N.P. Kravkov. In 2013, by the decision of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Department of Medical and Biological Sciences.

On April 8, 2014, Alexey Sozinov was re-elected to the post of Rector of the Medical University by a majority of the delegates of the Conference of Teachers, staff and students for the election of the rector and members of the Academic Council of KSMU.

On September 14, 2014, A.S. Sozinov was elected a deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan of the V convocation from the United Russia party, a member of the Committee on Social Policy.

On September 8, 2019, A.S. Sozinov was elected a deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan of the VI convocation from the United Russia party, a member of the Committee on Social Policy, a member of the Presidium of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan.

On September 13, 2019, a conference of scientific and pedagogical, medical workers, as well as representatives of other categories of workers and students was held dedicated to the election of the rector of the Kazan State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia. A secret ballot procedure was carried out, according to the results of which Professor A.S. Sozinov was selected for the position of rector of KSMU.

Married and has two daughters.
