International Olympiad in the Republic of Belarus

On May 4-5, 2023, the “II Belarusian Cardiology Olympiad of Students and Young Scientists with international participation” took place.

Teams from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus took part in the Olympiad. Our university was represented by the team “SCORая помощь”, that included 5th year students of the General Medicine Faculty: Gainutdinova L.A. (1501), Basarkina A.V. (1505), Gilemkhanova D.R. (1505), Kalimullina A.D. (1509), Anamov R.I. (1501).

The Olympiad consisted of several stages. At the beginning, the participants presented their “Homework”, it was a video, where the pathology was supposed to be encrypted. According to the results of this stage, our team took 3rd place.

Then, there was the first stage, where the participants should describe ten electrocardiograms with rhythm disturbances. According to the results of this stage, our team took the leading first place by correctly deciphering all the states represented on the EСG. The next stage was a clinical task. There were 7 stages: collection of complaints and anamnesis, an objective examination, assignment of laboratory and instrumental methods of examination, the interpretation of the results, provision of emergency medical care, the captain's competition and a patient's report.

The final stage was held in the format of “Jeopardy!”. According to the results of the Olympiad, the team “SCORая помощь” became the winner in the nomination “Best Clinical Thinking” and was invited to the full-time stages of the “III All-Russian Electrocardiography Tournament” and “V All-Russian Cardiology Olympiad”, which will be held within the framework of the “Almaz Youth Medical Forum – 2023 with international participation” in St. Petersburg. The team was prepared for the Olympiad by the academic staff of Hospital Therapy Department: Associate Professor L.I. Feyshanova, Assistant I.F. Fayrushina, Associate Professor G.I. Nurullina.
