On May 16, 2023, the solemn meeting of the Academic Council of the Kazan State Medical University took place.

Traditionally, academicians and professors, associate professors and assistants, teachers, students and residents, graduate students, veterans met in the Assembly Hall.

Rector, Professor A. S. Sozinov opened the Solemn meeting of the Academic Council, noting that the 209th year of history has brought a lot of significant victories and achievements to the development of Kazan State Medical University.

In the past year, impressive changes have taken place in education, which will have significant prospects for personnel training. The implementation of two new Master's degree programs has begun – Master's degree in Industrial Pharmacy and Master's degree in Public Health. In conditions where an import substitution is becoming the main factor of economic growth, the creation of Master's degree program in Industrial Pharmacy on the basis of the Pharmacy Institute, which has a European reputation for its developments in the field of drug delivery, has become the evidence of the university's contribution to the socio-economic development of the region. The training of highly qualified specialists in the field of Public Health – the science and practice of disease prevention, life extension and health promotion – has the great importance for achieving the national development goals of the Russian Federation. This program is not only about the work of the healthcare industry, it is the development of the principles of joint coordinated actions of all state and non-state actors to improve people's health at the regional, national and global levels.

The unique integrated problem-oriented program in “General Medicine” has started at KSMU in 2022 within the framework of the realization of the educational policy as a part of the federal program “Priority – 2030”. It’s the first time in modern Russian medical education, when fundamental disciplines are studied in the integrated form as a part of teaching modules, oriented around individual body systems. Now only one group is studying under such a program, teachers and methodologists, participating in its implementation, expect that the accumulated unique experience will be implement in the massive training of doctors.

Revolutionary changes in education have occurred due to the creation of conditions for students to simultaneously obtain two or more qualifications. For several years, at least 15-20% of university graduates have got a second qualification and a diploma “Translator in the Sphere of Professional Communication”. This is a paid program. Since 2022 the university, within the project “Digital Department” of the program “Priority – 2030”, has given the opportunity to get a second qualification in IT-technologies for free to 153 students and residents. Residents had the opportunity to get a second qualification in a related field, many of them entered the program of scientific and pedagogical personnel training.

For the development of talents and the disclosure of students' abilities, the university organized a variety of Olympiads that help to master the rules of teamwork, the principles of fair fight, and the skills of rapid response to new challenges. They are the VI All-Russian Olympiad on Public Health and Healthcare, the V All-Russian Olympiad on General Hygiene with international participation, the International Olympiad on Russian as a Foreign Language, the I All–Russian Student Olympiad in Pediatrics “Pediatrics – a look to the future”, the III Olympiad in Epidemiology and many others.

Students of our university have become winners of Olympiads held in other regions. In the VIII All-Russian Student Olympiad in Practical Medical Skills “Golden MedSkill”, the team of Kazan State Medical University became bronze medalists, took 1st place in the Olympiad in Normal Physiology, 2nd and 3rd place in the All-Russian Student Olympiad in Pediatrics “My profession is a pediatrician”, 2nd place in the V Republican Interuniversity Olympiad in Surgery, etc.
