Visit to Kazakhstan

Director of the Pharmacy Institute said, “We are interested in implementing joint projects with colleagues from Kazakhstan”.

Director of the Pharmacy Institute Ruslan Mustafin came with working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the visit, he made a presentation at a scientific conference on biomedical polymers at Karaganda Buketov University, which was attended by scientists from leading Kazakh and Russian universities with high Hirsch index.

Another item on the agenda was Mustafin's participation in the joint meeting of the leadership of Karaganda Buketov University and Karaganda Medical University, during which experts discussed the prospects of scientific and educational internships of students, residents and academic staff. Director of the Institute of Life Sciences of Karaganda Medical University Associate Professor Dmitry Klyuev and Dean of the School of Pharmacy Associate Professor Irina Loseva introduced the existing equipment park of the University's scientific center for collective use to the guests.

Also Director of the Pharmacy Institute Ruslan Mustafin visited the National Center of Biotechnology, where Deputy General Director of the center, Professor Vyacheslav Ogai acted as a “guide”, and scientific laboratories at Nazarbayev University. The head of the laboratory, assistant to professor Elina Moon told the visitors about the possibilities of the university.

“Nazarbayev University is remembered not only by excellent equipment of laboratories and high loading of the equipment park, but first of all by the international staff – lots of scientist, PhD students and students from abroad work and study at the university”, Director of the Pharmacy Institute shared his impressions.

Ruslan Mustafin notes the crucial importance of international cooperation and mutual interest in implementation of joint projects, bilateral visits and educational and scientific internships.

“I didn’t just want to share my research team’s results – it was very interesting to hear the opinion of colleagues from leading universities of Kazakhstan. The research conducted at the Pharmacy Institute arouse interest and desire to cooperate with us in the framework of the main scientific directions. We have been doing them for several decades, have achieved significant results and accumulated tremendous experience. This is confirmed by publications in high-ranking international journals allowing to receive grants from the Russian Science Foundation. This shows the high status of our scientific research”, he said.

This bilateral cooperation started last year, when a doctoral candidate of the Faculty of Chemistry of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Almaty) came to Kazan for research at the Pharmacy Institute. Then he worked on equipment that is practically absent in universities that Ruslan Mustafin visited during his current trip.

“The equipment of the Institute is our unique advantage that will allow us to continue to accept colleagues from Kazakhstan for internships and implement projects of interest to both parties in the foreseeable future”, he summarizes.

Recall that on May 18, 2023, at the site of the XIV International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” 2023, the agreement on the establishment of an international scientific and educational consortium for the implementation of the project “Design and implementation of an integrated educational program” between the Kazan State Medical University, North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov (St. Petersburg), Medical University of Karaganda (Republic of Kazakhstan), Semey Medical University (Republic of Kazakhstan) was signed.
