International Scholar Award

The research team of the Propaedeutic of Internal Diseases Department named after Professor S.S. Zimnitsky was awarded the Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award of the American Heart Association (AHA) for the abstract at a symposium “AHA Scientific Sessions - 2023” in Philadelphia (USA) on November 11-13.

The members of the awarded team of Kazan State Medical University include Assistants of the Department Dilyara Hastieva and Natalia Tarasova, Doctoral Student Marat Valeev. The Head of the research team is the Chair of Propaedeutic of Internal Diseases Department named after Professor S.S. Zimnitsky, MD, Professor Niyaz Khasanov.

The abstract, noted by ANA, is devoted to issues of iron deficiency in patients with heart rhythm disorders, in particular, iron deficiency associations with recurrence rate of atrial fibrillation paroxysms in patients after pharmacological cardioversion.

The Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award is awarded annually to a team of authors from each participating country who have submitted scientific data with the highest rating according to experts of AHA.

This award can be considered historical – it became the first award for KSMU from AHA in all of the university history.
